Shoreline Stabilization & Dune Permitting
The jagged coast of Maine measures over 4,500 miles. Some of it encompasses beautiful sandy beaches, tidal waterways as well as rock lined shores. WEA has developed a niche, assisting homeowners in protecting their coastal properties. This complex and fragile environment provide a challenge to develop the protection system that will best serve the subject property. WEA will analyze each site for its particular conditions and based on the factors involved will develop a system that will protect the property, while providing a solution that can be permitted through local state and federal permitting processes.
Our team has extensive experience designing projects to limit shoreline erosion and the effects of human activities. We use natural (living shoreline) and structural methods of stabilization to ensure a functional, yet aesthetic, results. Our site analysis includes wave analysis, flood analysis and overturning as is necessary. We will prepare a feasibility study detailing our recommendations, estimated costs and time frame for completion. To further streamline the process for our clients, we can also handle the bidding process and construction oversight.
Most shoreline stabilization or restoration projects require a permit from the local municipality, the state of Maine or the federal Army Corps of Engineers. The permitting process sometimes includes all three. The licensed, professional engineers at Walsh Engineering Associates, Inc. have developed strong relationships and successfully worked with each of these agencies. Our designs will be developed taking into consideration the permitting requirements and will prepare all required permits and details required for your permit application; we will also handle all permitting correspondence.
Our construction management and administration services are designed to make sure your stabilization project goes smoothly. We will handle the bidding process for all of the work to be done and monitor all contractors and subcontractors to ensure the work is done properly. We also ensure that all work is done according to permit requirements. Our intent is to bring your project in on time and within budget without sacrificing quality workmanship.
At Walsh Engineering Associates, Inc., we focus on quality and performance. We bring creativity, expertise and a passion for doing things right to all of the engineering services we provide. From site analysis to construction administration to project completion, our clients can rely on our civil engineering knowledge and experience to preserve their waterfront, whether it is along the Maine coast or the shores of one of Maine’s many lakes.
